Norris Trophy winner and captain of the Nashville Predators
Roman Josi is a Swiss professional ice hockey player who has been playing for the Nashville Predators, the world’s highest-ranked hockey league, since May 2010. Roman began his professional career in 2006 for SC Bern in his hometown. Considered one of the top Swiss prospects, he was selected 38th overall in the second round of the 2008 Entry Draft by the Nashville Predators. Since September 2017, he has been the captain of the team. In 2016, Roman, with 44 other players, was selected for the world’s best league All-Star Team and he was re-elected for 2019. He has won the Swiss hockey championship (2010), as well as three World Championship silver medals (2013, 2018 and 2024). In the 2019/2020 season, he became the first Swiss player to win the James Norris Memorial Trophy as the league’s best defenceman.
