NORQAIN returns as the Official Timekeeper of the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON and celebrates the race’s 50th anniversary with a limited-edition Wild ONE

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON, NORQAIN is delighted to introduce the Wild ONE BMW BERLIN-MARATHON Limited Edition, a special run of just 50 pieces in ultra-robust and ultra-lightweight black NORTEQ® with a dial inspired by the race’s challenging 42.195- kilometre course. The independent, family-owned Swiss watch company first partnered with the prestigious event in 2023 and this year will return to serve as its Official Timekeeper.

The BMW BERLIN-MARATHON was first held in 1974 and is part of the Abbott World Marathon Majors and known for a flat course that favours fast times. This year’s race takes place on Sunday 29 September. The five winners of this year’s NORQAINER Challenge 2024 will be on the starting line in the shadows of the Brandenburg Gate, looking to achieve personal goals and create memories that will last a lifetime. The NORQAINER Challenge has been held every year since 2018 and invites selected participants to push their limits and to live out NORQAIN’s adventurous motto: “my life, my way”.

Ben Küffer, founder and CEO of NORQAIN said: “It’s a huge honour to serve as the Official Timekeeper for the 50th anniversary of the iconic BMW BERLIN-MARATHON and we’re delighted to take up the role again as our multi-year partnership continues. For us, a brand rooted in adventure and exploration and that lives by the motto “my life, my way”, the race represents a beautiful opportunity to celebrate the best of the human spirit: perseverance, dedication and the challenger spirit which is deeply rooted in the NORQAIN brand.

With its ultra-lightweight construction, the Wild ONE BMW BERLIN-MARATHON Limited Edition is the ultimate high-performance sports watch and becomes the perfect running companion. Based on the best-selling Wild ONE, its features include a 42mm black NORTEQ® case with a revolutionary shock-absorbing anthracite-coloured rubber middle section. It’s powered by the chronometer certified NORQAIN Manufacture Calibre NN20/1 by Kenissi, an automatic movement with a 70-hour power reserve. The black dial is decorated with an outline of the course map in a contrasting gold colour, while the sapphire crystal case back features the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON’S 50th anniversary logo and the words ‘LIMITED EDITION’ and ‘ONE of 50’. The watch is water-resistant to 200 metres and finished on a black rubber sports strap.

For NORQAIN, the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON represents an exciting opportunity to celebrate the men and women taking part who push themselves to the limit. It’s also a proud moment marking the rapid growth of the company in Germany, supported by NORQAIN valued retailer partner Wempe, the prestigious family-run luxury watch and jewellery retailer. Like NORQAIN, Wempe has a passion for excellence and accurate timekeeping. The race will provide a showcase for the synergies that unite the two dynamic companies.

Guido Kessler, managing director of Wempe Berlin Kurfürstendamm, said: “What a thrill to collaborate again with NORQAIN and to offer the Wild ONE BMW BERLIN-MARATHON Limited Edition as this prestigious event comes to our city again. It will be our pleasure to welcome our valued customers together with race participants and visiting spectators to our showroom to try on this beautiful watch.”

Thomas Jahn, managing director of Wempe Berlin Friedrichstrasse, added: “NORQAIN and Wempe are such natural partners: both companies are family-owned, and we share a common passion for uncompromising quality, impeccable service and the joy of beautiful, high-performing luxury watches.”

Christian Jost in his function as CEO of SCC EVENTS, the organiser of the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON, said: “I had the honour of holding a WILD ONE from the BMW BERLIN-MARATHON Limited Edition in my hands. This exclusive watch is truly outstanding and, with its high-quality standards and innovative spirit, it is a perfect match for the 50th BMW BERLIN-MARATHON.”

Ben Küffer had this final message: “On behalf of everyone at NORQAIN, I want to wish the NORQAINERs taking on the NORQAINER Challenge 2024 in Berlin the best of luck, and to thank Christian for his collaboration and the Wempe team for sharing this adventure with us as our official retail partner for the Wild ONE BMW BERLIN-MARATHON Limited Edition.

The Wild ONE BMW BERLIN-MARATHON Limited Edition will be available starting June 27th at Wempe Germany, other selected retailers, and on the NORQAIN website, priced at CHF 5’150.
